SOS chemistry help?

jo jo jo ma friends

For those who know about chemistry, the topic is "disintegration of an ionic lattice"

My question is: when does an energy surplus occur? Does the hydration energy have to be stronger or the lattice energy?

Our teacher was too incompetent to finish the sentence in the notebook entry and tomorrow she has a test, so your answers would be very helpful

ps. I can't find anything on google

The grid energy must be overcome to separate the ions from the grid. This amount of energy must therefore be put in.

And the hydration energy is released by the solvation of the ions. So you get it out.

Now tell me when you have a surplus: if you need to put more in, or if you get more out?
