Should I accept the RB?

Hello,

I had a test appointment with a RB today. She's a Belgian draft horse, so quite large.

She's very pleasant to lead and easy to work with from the ground. The only problem is that she's not good for riding. She can only walk at the moment because she was ill recently, and that's still ongoing.

That's not really a problem. But she can't trot for very long, let alone canter, even if she weren't sick, since she weighs almost 900 kg. And I'd really like to have someone to ride with who I can also work with.

She also likes to test things out, which I can deal with, but it's really difficult because she's so big.
I've also received an inquiry for a pony mare. Should I go and see her? Or should I take the other one and see how it goes?

Thank you in advance

Hello 🙋🏼

I understand you. On the one hand, you find the mare great, on the other hand you are a little uncertain about the “ride problem”. However, you have already answered the question yourself with the phrase “I really like riding with which I can still work”. That’s what makes you look at the ponystute. Because an RB with which you can’t focus properly on riding your focus is not so suitable, even if it’s good to run. However, there are so much more good “guided horses” that can also be super rides.

also the size of the mare makes much. It’s something else on a smaller horse that might be even better suited for you.

LG I hope I could help you

It’s not a shame to try several horses before you decide. Tell the owner of the cold blood (900 kg can’t be a .warm blossom?) that you’ll think about it and look at the pony. Then you take what fits better.

I’m in a riding position to fit ALL. If this is not the case, as with you now I would not do it

Try the pony at least once – can’t hurt. Then you can still choose the big mare.

I would definitely try the pony.
first of all, you should be convinced of the RB as the problems usually come early enough with owner and horse

A Belgian warm blood has a quite normal size with a height of 160-165 cm. 900 kg are, however, much too much, which weigh normally around the 600 kg. It would therefore be extremely overweight and should not be ridden at all if it actually weighed 900 kg.

Look at the pony.

If your focus is on riding, the RB doesn’t really bring you much. Would keep looking at you.

Try the pony and see where you feel the most comfortable.
