Should I stop updating my iOS devices because of performance?
Hello dear community,
I currently own the iPhone 11 and the 2018 iPad Pro. I've owned the iPad since October 2019, and it still works perfectly. Recently, I found out that Apple modifies iOS versions to cause lag on older devices, encouraging people to buy new devices (Apple has admitted this). My iPad is still in great condition, but it's obviously getting old, and I'm worried that further updates will affect performance, leaving me unable to downgrade or only with great effort (if at all possible). My question is, how would you handle this? Should I update or forgo new features?
that’s total bullshit, Apple would never make the devices slower, that would not be very smart and would harm the image extremely. Cutting off the peaks of performance, so that it doesn’t just go out on your own, just make sure you don’t have to buy a new device for longer. It is even the opposite of the case, they even made old devices faster. So don’t give up updates.
If you don’t update it, you won’t get any security updates. Of course, that poses a risk.
Alternatively, you could also adjust the system region to France and leave the system language in German. The smartphone then thinks it is owned by a Frenchman, and in France Apple must not do this with the power strangulation, as something was decided there and Apple had to pay for it.
In the end, the decision is of course with you, but I would recommend updates.
It’s just not true or you got wrong.
Apple had introduced a function for iPhones that can no longer supply enough power for old batteries, so that the phones don’t just turn off. A real problem that I myself often had.
Later, the function was extended so much, especially because of the outside criticism that the user can disable the limit itself, it should be activated by a crash.
So update your devices.
How you want (is your decision)
