Text message from Instagram with a code. Scam?
My mother received a text message last night from (supposedly) Instagram. The message read: "(Six-digit code) is your Instagram account code. Don't share it." The sender is a cell phone number beginning with +49176. However, she doesn't have Instagram, nor has she ever left her number on Facebook.
No if you have 2FA enabled, you will get a code by SMS from Instagram.
Either DU or someone tries to come to serve account.
I wouldn’t do anything. Possibly change the password even if it is not really necessary – never hurts.
Thanks for the quick answer. But she hasn’t had an Instagram account – never before. And why is the sender a phone number?
Or her number was someone else before. Then he’ll remove them.
If she doesn’t have an account, it’s either Scam/Fake or someone added their phone number to an Instagram – which would be useless because he doesn’t get to the code.
In my cases, I would block the sender and finish it and then you will have peace : )
