Smartphone lost on the train – should I file a provisional report?

Hello,

Unfortunately, I left my smartphone on the train last night (July 19, 2022, around 4:00 a.m.). I was taking a round trip from the starting station to the destination station and back again on the same train. No transfers.

However, I had fallen asleep in the meantime, and when I reached my destination station, a cleaning lady woke me up and told me to get off quickly, probably thinking I wanted to leave. Sleepy as I was, I did and hurried. There, I forgot my smartphone, which was plugged into a power outlet.

I quickly realized that this train was actually going back, so I went back on, but of course, I sat down in a different seat. There I fell asleep again with unshakable peace, and only when I returned to the station I had left did I notice the loss. I walked the entire length of the train, but there was no way I could find it. It was gone.

I asked the cleaning staff at the departure station, but they hadn't found it, and there was nothing at the information point either. Therefore, I assume it was either already collected by the cleaning staff at the destination station – or by someone else (e.g., a deposit bottle collector).

I called the station last night and they said nothing had been handed in yet. I also filed a lost property report via this online platform. It also says there that no matching item has been found yet. Approximately how long does it take for something to be registered? Does it make sense to file a report in advance? I'm asking this with the understanding that 72 hours of video recordings are always stored on trains. Would the authorities evaluate the footage in such a case?

Thanks for the answers and best regards
F.

There is ne option that works except for Huwai phones.

If you’re lucky and Google knows your phone, you’ll see where it is (the sim card).

You go on

  1. Manage Google account
  2. Personalisation and data protection
  3. Settings and progress and find below
  4. Google maps Timeline

If not

It takes about a week until the cell phone is registered in the fund office when delivered.

only because of a forgotten phone, neither the video material of the vehicles is looked through, nor the police are looking for it, only in criminal cases.

You didn’t try that fast. 🤷 What the hell are we gonna do?

You think your phone’s off? How the hell do you know it’s still like that? Even without a pin it’s on. It’s about whether the Simcard is active. The flight mode is absolutely uninteresting.

Theft would be a criminal case.

No! Criminal cases are murders.

No simple thefts that it is not, by the way, if you forget it. And no one like cleaning forces train companions or in motor cars to train drivers So stupid and takes a phone in the video car without writing a find card.

That was me

No! Criminal cases are murders.

Bullshit. Funding is a crime, it is not a crime, but it is a crime.

Quote: Suggestion – also the fund submission – is according to § 12 para. 2 pcs.

It was mine.

No offense = No ad.

“presorious” (not provisionally) to reimburse an ad is neither admissible nor targeted.

  1. If possible, locate it via an app or cloud. (No, the police can and must not place the phone!)
  2. Lock the card in front of the mobile phone provider.
  3. Wait a week. If it hasn’t been up until then, you can display theft or theft. Reimbursement.

The Deutsche Bahn has its own fund office. There are usually all things coming.

You don’t know that there’s a crime. It’s completely normal that if you lost something, you don’t know where it is. This is not yet an indication of a crime (so-called “initial intention”). If, on the other hand, after a normal time, for example a week, the thing does not dive into the fund office, it can be argued that someone has kept it unauthorized.

I doubt they do something because you lose your phone. But this is relatively simple. You call the police to sign your situation and ask your question there, then you get an answer.
