Smart Home?

Hello

I would like to buy this smart motion detector from Ikea, but unfortunately I don't know if you need a hub to simply turn the light on when you enter a room and turn the light off when you leave.

The support chat from Ikea only said that you can extend the functions with a hub

Here is the link

I hope you can help me

I just want that when I enter a room there one light goes on and when I leave it goes off. I need to know if I need the hub for this function

Thank you in advance

That’s just the sensor. There’s something you need to set up which lamp you want to go on or out. Ikea support is right.

There are also complete motion detectors for your purpose, which the lamp has already installed. Or can at least switch. They’re not wired anymore. Then you don’t need a lift for it.

See also the answer from . In the instructions, the matching lamps can also be connected by means of the button. Just make that rtfm.

Okay, if you’re still driving, it’s stupid.

With an online order, you have 14 days of right of return, in which you can find out if this is going or not.

That thing’s gonna cost $10. If it doesn’t go, it can return or resell.

You need a compatible lamp.
Then it goes without the stroke. The guide explains how it is.

Where such a motion detector cannot distinguish whether to leave or come. It can only detect whether what moves, usually movement -> light, no movement -> light

You need minimum a gateway. The sparks not in Wi-Fi, but in Zigbee. I’ve seen in your answers that you have Wi-Fi lamps. There’s only the gateway.

Do you have a link to Hornbach?

This is also a gateway and also not compatible with the ikea system. Okay, let’s start differently. They have smart lamps with Wi-Fi. What else do you have in the system? Alexa? You can control the WLAN lamps with an app. The system is always manufacturer-dependent and even if you have a compatible motion detector, you do not have a unit that takes over the control. . It is good to have a central control unit that combines the functions. This is actually the task of a Hub ́s and Alexa (as an example) would be such a stroke that could take over this function.

Well, that’s just the sensor. but it’s supposed to be triggered, how do you want to do that? Why should the lamp be controlled?

either you can see if there is an amazon (…) wlan motion detector – or you let the smarthome out. also gives normal motion detectors to hang on a socket and then you can just connect any lamp.

or you buy a pir module and build yourself a…
