Scoliosis: Do I need a corset?

Hello, I'm 14 years old and have scoliosis (28 degrees). Can anyone tell me if I need a corset because my doctor said I'll soon be fully grown and I'm not sure if I'll still get a corset because I'll soon be fully grown. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Corset is indicated, but also for many very uncomfortable and annoying that this thing is more around at home than it is worn.

There are other alternatives such as physiotherapy, swimming, yoga, pilates, aerobics, therapeutic riding and dance sports.

They are actively supporting, not passive, which can quickly lead to muscle shrinkage.

Hello Julia183618!

A corset is used in a moderately pronounced form.

At angles above 20°, most specialists recommend a corset.

If you need a corset, you’ll need it for two years until you’ve grown up.

The best way to discuss the case with your parents, who can be consulted with your health insurance.

Good luck! sarcasia

The doctor will decide individually.

But after the grade and your age, you’d have to get one.

A corset can come into question in any case and I would definitely recommend that.

It is often started with 13/14 corset, and this is then worn until 18/19. Although you do not grow much in height, you are definitely not grown and it can still improve a lot, or at least stop a deterioration.

this then worn until 18/19

In fact, I got 18 one and a half and wear it until I am 20 probably.

I am not talking about every single case in this world, but about frequent cases…

I didn’t want to correct it, but just add it.

Depends on what you get.

Take a shower every day. In winter it is pleasant because it warms.

In spring/summer it will be hard.

I don’t have to wear it that long, but I’m sure you’re 22 hours a day. In the beginning it becomes hard, but if you get a Cheneau corset (so I have one) you get used to it.

With me, there are only occasional deaf and tingling, but that’s what you keep.
