Scalar Disoriented?
Hey! Here are some basic information
WW:
Nitrite 0.1mg/L This is because I put all the fish in yesterday and it was maybe a little too much at the beginning
Nitrate 18mg / L
GH 7 dH
KH 10 dH
pH 7
Chlorine 0mg/L
CO² 30mg/L
25- Max 27 degrees
WW every 2 weeks about 20-50 liters was recommended to me by a friend who does the same thing and for him everything works great, for me too actually I only see 1 problem below
Inventory
5x Angelfish (Pterophyllum)
8x armored catfish (Coridoras Sterbai)
5x Magnificent algae eaters (Garra flavatra)
1x L177
There's still very little planting, as I recently trimmed the denser plants properly. The armored catfish swim around the tank normally and feed on the bottom, just like the splendens, which sit quietly on the rocks and gravel and occasionally swim back and forth. All of these animals are breathing normally, as is their feces. The L177 catfish occasionally comes out but mostly sits under the filter where it's nice and dark.
Now, however, the angelfish aren't eating anything. They're staggering around and completely disoriented, except for one, which is acting normally and is looking for food at the surface. It's already eaten a little, but the other four are acting strangely. One of them also sits on the bottom a lot and sometimes just stands still. The armored catfish have already eaten bloodworms, just like the L177 catfish ate the entire algae tablet, and the splendens ate the shrimp tablets. Only the angelfish are giving me problems 🙁
Filtering etc:
A 6-week running-in period with occasional water changes, bacteria, CO², and fertilizer additions. I've had plants inside for two weeks because I had CO² issues at the beginning, and the first ones were seriously cut. Filtration is via a JBL e1502 and UV-C pump. The pre-filter is the built-in internal filter from a Juwel Rio 450 (my tank) with coarse and fine blue filter sponges, ceramic tubes, and stones with pores whose name I don't know.
What I add after dosing is:
Sera Mineral Salt
Easy Life : EasyCarbo liquid CO2
Easy Life : Aquamaker
Easy Life : Filter Medium
Plus sea almond leaves XL 2 pieces
I hope someone can help me figure out what's wrong with my angelfish, or whether it's a problem with the breeding method. I'll lower the GH, KH, and PH.
Garra does not fit in, they come not only from another continent than the rest of the occupancy, but also have other requirements regarding PH, setup and flow. Can be good that your scalar is shy..
No so far they leave the scalar rest
Nevertheless, both types have different attitudes
No the swim around but swim against all objects and are very careless
The scales are sitting in the pool?
WW are quite the same and they like to sit in the throughflow area of the basin
