I find the names bad because they sound too similar.

It is extremely annoying when parents call a person and you always have to react because the names are too similar and you don’t know who was meant. Therefore, please your children and choose names that sound different, at least the beginning, optimally even without ending to sound too equal.

I also don’t know if River is allowed to do this by the registry office.

Personally, I do not find it optimal to call the children identical, only in different languages. Because they will be “the twins” so or so constantly, then also in fact to bear the same name, it can make it even harder to develop independent life.

Another tip that has nothing to do with name: Each child gets a birthday cake of their own, from where they are old enough if they want to celebrate it separately. I know enough twins who have hated to always be just “one of the twins” to never stand alone on their birthday, but always only with the other. To do so, always compromises should be avoided if they wanted different types of cake or topics for the party, instead of getting their own desire. Another twin pair I know had no problems with it as a child, because actually always the same wishes, but they meant that it was extremely difficult for them to develop their own lives because they were always sticking together as children, even parents, relatives and friends knew them only as one unit, then they were supposed to live “simply” independent lives from each other, which she totally overwhelmed – especially emotional. All the twins I know were also of the opinion that it would be better to share them in school and put them in different classes so that they learn to do things without the other person, find their own friends etc. Even if there are twins, later as a child, allow them to be independent and do not constantly compare them with the other twin.
