Are these printer cartridges the right ones?
Hello, my partner gave me a printer, and I need to replace the cartridges. I found some online that might fit. It even says they're compatible with my printer. What's confusing me is that my cartridge says "BK" at the end, while the one online says "XL." This is the first time I've had a printer. But can I buy these cartridges?
I always recommend buying and using original replacement cartridges from the manufacturer (in the case of Brother), as I have had bad experiences with Noname cartridges. Even if it says that they are compatible with the printer model, it can always be the case that they do not fit 100%, one destroys the print head, or they are not recognized by the printer at all.
Unfortunately, a pack of original cartridges costs about 50,-€ and if you print a lot, you will also buy about three of these packs each year. That’s why my recommendation should you buy a new printer at some point: if you need black and white and it doesn’t necessarily have to be in color, then buy a laser printer, because it costs relatively little afterwards. With a toner you can print around the 1500 pages (which often lasts for more than one year thick) and a replacement toner costs about the 90,-€ (applies to the model again of course).
Furthermore, laser printers have the advantage that they do not dry after prolonged service life. If you don’t use an inkjet printer once a month, the print head can already be so dry that several cleaning processes have to be carried out (which costs a lot of ink) to normalize the print quality again. If this is not sufficient, the head must be manually cleaned (takes time and effort). And when it comes to hard, it is already so strongly dried up that one or more colors will not get on paper anymore.
So, but now back to the cartridges you want to use: You can try it, but be aware that there is a risk either to damage your printer or to have bought the cartridges for free, as it does not recognize the printer.
Yes I thank you for help 🙏
