Is 1600€ for new brakes completely acceptable?
I have a Passat b6 CC that needs new brakes, complete discs and pads front and rear… should cost €1600 at VW…

I would have expected that price from Mercedes or BMW, but from VW? Is it really that expensive?
I've always paid under €1,000 for a repair, whether it was brakes, timing belts, or shock absorbers… the most expensive was €1,200 or so… but only because the replacement part was so expensive…

The set costs around €250-300 in the aftermarket if you want first equipment quality (ATE, Brembo), if all screws leave as they should be half an hour per wheel minimum. Then rust, Greases, refill brake fluid, check etc… the resetting of servomotors… costs significantly less in the free workshop
