Sideloading under iOS is very limited, you can’t just download an app from the internet, you need to download an alternative marketplace, which hasn’t been available yet. It has to be logged in to Apple and signed and the 50ct has to pay to Apple for each download, so they probably won’t leave everyone that way. Apple can also reject and prevent apps and marketplaces and have already done so.

I don’t think there’s a big thing that’s really useful.

Apps can be loaded directly from websites. If someone offers this then you will be able to load an app from there.

No, you can’t. You can only download an alternative marketplace apps and there is no one yet.
