Protect yourself from Steam scammers?

Hey,

In CS:GO, I often get messages asking if I want to trade with them. But I'm afraid of being scammed and have no idea what they're scamming me with or how I can protect myself…

Does anyone know anything about this?

Within Steam you can only be cammed if you are stupid. The trading window shows your items, its items ready. If the commercial window only shows your items, you’ll give them away. Without simultaneous return, you do not act on Steam.

Don’t let in on third parties. Phishing the Steamlogin data via a busy login page is popular there.

Then it would only be that you exchange valuable items for trash, that with the market and the values of the items you have to know yourself.

So true, if someone says jaaa I will give you the money later on Paypal or something. In Steam is quite safe.

No – as soon as something is changed in the trading window, both have to confirm it again.

Yetanotherpage has already said: As long as you stay on Steam, you can only fall on Scams by absolute inattention.

  • If someone wants to trade with you, do a direct trade with the respective person. If your counterpart wants to explain that your items need to be reviewed by a friend or “Steam Admin”, you can be 100% sure that it is a Scam.
  • In the trade window you can see your items and the items of the other user. Take the time and go through everything before you confirm the trade. You will be warned, among other things, if you take a trade, where you will only give items and get nothing for it.
  • Usually fingers away from third-party providers. There are some exceptions (large established pages such as Skinbaron)
  • Use Mobile Authenticator.

Once again you have the additional confirmation of a trade via the app. So basically double backup if you accidentally took a trade too fast in the trade window without checking everything again.
In addition, the Authenticator protects you somewhat better if you have passed your password/user name in any form.

Don’t give anyone and nowhere your account data – then you won’t be cached.

In addition, I recommend activating the 2-factor authentication to everyone.

If you are not on trade, but are always only actively advertised: private inventory or simply ignore/block

Put the greed aside and just don’t trade.

You don’t need to be afraid anymore.

It’s really easy, isn’t it?

Why would I know that? I’ve never traded myself in spite of a permanent request.

You know something like that is not desired. Is like “hey how can I protect myself from the pregnant woman” And then you say “Yes just don’t have sex.”
