Should you always switch when expanding fiber optics?

Hello,

When I got home from work today, a Telekom employee stood at my door and told me that I basically had to switch to fiber optic because it was being installed in my house and it would be cheaper. He also said that if I didn't sign the contract, I would have to pay €800 for fiber optic because the copper line would be shut down at some point. He said the owner would pay for it, but I would have to cover it as an additional cost.

It all seems pretty strange to me, especially since my current copper line is completely sufficient for my surfing and streaming and the contract is cheaper.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about this, so I have the following question: Can the copper line really be disconnected? Will I really be stuck with the €800 bill? Do I need to discuss my decision with my landlord? What makes sense if you don't need more and therefore want to pay as little as possible?

I'm quite confused now. I signed the contract with him and now I have to either cancel it within 14 days or pay 20 euros more per month and be stuck in the new contract for another 24 months…

I would therefore be grateful for any help, even if you just tell me where I can get the best independent advice.

Jein.

Yes, DSL will be shut down sometime: https://www.teltarif.de/glass-fiber-copper-change-gigabitforum/news/94480.html

However, if you have BK/DOCSIS, you can also use it instead of glass fiber. Or mobile.

If you’re the stranger. Contact for free

  • it is necessary to have owners of a building with at least the Deutsche Telekom network. 3 accommodation units and commissioning
  • or
  • for almost all providers the connection is also free if any. in the house, an Internet-Tarif i.d.R. to the fiber-optic network operator is getting for at least 2 years (for Telekom only Telekom-Tarife, UGG O2 or regional providers, …).

Otherwise, just 800-900EUR for the connection without internal cabling (possibly it is necessary to provide empty pipes according to the requirements of the network operator, where the stuff is drawn through when ordering a tariff) or e.g. by inflation, if you let it happen at some point.

But as I said, if you have DOCSIS, you can hope. for many years to dispense with glass fibers or if necessary DOCSIS will be drilled. Or keep mobile.

Hey,

that’s a little wild.

Are you a customer with us?

So that’s all a little tricky. But basically to the 800 euros. They are generally accepted for the owner of the property. However, if it is a supported extension, the property is connected to the fiber optic net free of charge.

Now it is also the question whether the owner can also build glass fiber into the house or copper is built back in the same course. But that can only answer your landlord. If copper remains, nothing is against using the current connection. If you decide to switch to fiberglass later, you will order it with us and only the usual delivery costs will be paid to you. The technology itself is already in the building.

Of course, glass fiber is the net of the future, but until copper will be completely detached, it will take a while.

Do you have any further questions? – I’m here!

Hi.

I know you’re just the social media team and you’re not going to have much to talk about.

But can Deutsche Telekom not finally make anything against their partner companies that are trying to complete contracts and make commissions with completely glaring arguments? Your reputation suffers, not theirs. It can’t be that the representatives lie to customers just to get commission.

Hi! If you know what we can and do as a social media team. ;

Do you have a concrete example and want to tell me what exactly happened? Are you a customer with us? Then I can pass on a complaint.

I don’t want to deny that we have complaints about this. It is important that we keep reporting to the partner. Therefore, I asked you if you have a specific concern about this, which I can then possibly pass on.

I think there’s enough bsp here on GF. with “The DSL network will soon be switched off, they should necessarily change”, or “Vodafon will turn off the cable TV network, then only our GF network will be available”. Voss&Team has recently published a report and has been included in one of your subs, where the “best field worker” has claimed to sell a fiber optic connection, although it was just a DSL upgrade. The company Ranger is arguing your customers from the front to the back and this should be known to you, after all, the consumer center warns before and every month articles come to Golem, Heise and Co.

Such Telekom employees are sharlatane. Telekom wants everyone to pay their magenta. Revoke the conclusion and if you may receive a new router via DHLLieferung, choose a refusal to accept. I’ve done this 3 x

I live in the self-used home and stood with me, at least, half a dozen telecom workers in front of me to turn on glass fibers. At the same time, I was bombarded with letters and mails from the pink giant. As a reward I was offered free connection to my house.

I remained steadfast. Not with me. They would have had to lay the new line across the ground that was freshly paved 4 years ago. If I looked at the unqualified subcontractors of the pink giant, I would have been black annoyed by the result.

I’m fine with my data volume and if I really need more, I’m moving from Telekom to Vodafone. Cable has been in the house for 20 years.

You’ve basically understood what’s wrong.

As a tenant, you have to do with the 0% connection.

Then with the money

The current was the contracts.

The connection (no matter whether Efh/MFH) is free of charge for initial connection and conclusion of the contract. If the house owner refuses and wants to use the offer later, he pays the connection. If he says, stay at the expense. It’s true as Slang.

Either you misunderstood it, or the guy stole bullshit.

You don’t have to pay for the connection but the owner, so it can be that if there is an extension project there is for the owner Umsonst or cheaper the glass fiber is to be transferred in the ramen of this project.

So ask your landlord if he has put glass fiber connection to the house or wants to do so if not retrieve the contract within 14 days.

The copper lines are definitely not switched off before 2030 so you can spend a long time with DSL.

Telekom employees can also be scams. With us in the house was a whole wig column.

The police were happy. All taken, except for one

Hello recommend loading a telecom and talking about it, with fiberglass there are several different rates, from 39€ to 96€ monthly, depending on performance
