Should I feel guilty?

There's a forest near us where people often dump their trash. Often, entire trailers are full.

As I was driving through this forest the other day, I saw a car parked at the side of the road. Immediately a door closed and it drove off. In front of me. But it was still quite far away. It's a very long, straight road. A short time later the car turned onto a forest path. As I drove past, all I could see was that the car had a non-local license plate. I then drove straight to the forest ranger to tell him that I suspected someone was dumping rubbish there. He then drove over there straight away. I told him beforehand that if anything happened he could contact my father. But we haven't heard anything since. Should I be worried that I alarmed him for nothing?

Waste disposal in the forest is a very annoying theme that Förster has to deal with unintentionally.
That is why they are grateful if the people keep their eyes open.
Even if the Förster didn’t catch anyone, he’ll still be grateful that you at least took care of yourself.
(The autocode and car features are of course also helpful for such messages).

No, you don’t have to have bad conscience. As a förster one is more happy if someone is interested in the forest in the positive sense and does not treat it as a garbage dump, vehicle playground or anything else.

And if that happens more often, he will know the problem and not think that you wanted to take it on the arm now and just annoy him. That’s why you don’t need to think that you just told him to report if what is.

It’s nice to take care of you!

Not at all. You can talk to the Förster if you find yourself suspicious.
