That can have several reasons. For example, minimum contract terms for the subscription or domain. You should ask the reason for shopify yourself. Here no one has your customer data or knows what kind of tariff you have booked on what terms.

Disabling an account usually does not affect any of the providers the subscription booked there. Some do not disable an account with running costs.

As with Shopify, you should ask for support there. Some vendors can also block themselves by deactivating and the subscription continues. Disable account must not be equal to cancel subscription.
