Sentence in the past – how correct?

Hi,

What's the correct name? It's about a singer who played her new song for the first time at one of her concerts. I wanted to write to someone and tell them that it was nice to hear it live.

If you write:

"It was really nice to hear (the song) live for the first time."

"It was really nice to hear (the song) live for the first time."

Or something else? With or without "for the first time"?

There are countless ways to dress your enthusiasm in words. Here is your sentence and an alternative:

  • It was really nice to see X live for the first time with her new song.
  • It was an incredible experience for me to hear the new song from X on stage live.

Listening to this song for the first time was an incredibly beautiful experience for me.

I’ve heard the song very often, but live it’s much more beautiful!

or something looser:

The song is totally cool anyway, but live really the Ober-Hammer!

etc.
