Semester ticket, Mannheim to Karlsruhe?

Hi guys,

I'm really desperate because I can't find a precise answer to my question online. I have to commute from Mannheim to Karlsruhe, and I'm not sure which semester ticket I need. Do I need to get two? But then I'd have to pay double the price, or is the VRN ticket also valid in the Karlsruhe area?

As a student of a Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, you can buy a semester ticket for €162.80. This is true, as the name says, for one semester, six months. The scope is the KVV, so it is not enough to Mannheim. https://www.kv.de/tickets/tickets/schueler-studenten/studikarte.html

As the owner of a KVV-semester ticket, you can buy a connection-semester ticket for €215.60, which allows you to extend the validity range to the VRN (except Westpfalz). https://www.vrn.de/ticketuebersicht/semester-ticket/ Connection/index.html

Overall you pay approx. € 380 per semester for semester tickets, about € 63 per month. Compared to a normal monthly ticket Mannheim–Karlsruhe, this is a spot price.
