Semester ticket. All of NRW?

Hello everyone,

I'm studying physics (1 semester) in Bonn and, of course, I received a semester ticket with my semester fee. Now, my question.
Many claim that you can only travel without restrictions (by bus and train) within the Bonn district. The ticket still says NRW/VRS and so on. I've lost track, as I'm bombarded with ignorance from all sides.

Can I use my ticket to spontaneously travel to Cologne?

Greetings from Bonn

Your student ID is also a semester or semester ticket of the Rhein-Sieg (VRS-Semesterticket) and a NRW ticket. This means that he entitles you to use certain offers of the public transport throughout NRW. Tickets are always purchased together. Both tickets are non-transferable and only valid together with an official photo ID. Important: The student card must not be welded in any case (!) because NRW tickets and VRS semester ticket become invalid.

The VRS semester ticket is limited to the area of the VRS, while the NRW ticket covers the rest of the federal state. Bonn students living in the Ahrweiler district can also use the VRS semester ticket under certain conditions. Please note the information from the Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB) on the Internet.

I would say that applies throughout NRW. I also come to Bonn with my semester ticket. Only in the Netherlands (Arnhem) do you not come despite VRR.
