Homemade bipolar capacitor exploded?

It's about the capacitor marked there in the Focus circuit, which has a 25V 6.8UF rating. I replaced it a while ago with two 10UF 50V electrolytic capacitors, negative to negative. After 30 minutes of watching TV, one of them blew up, and that killed my horizontal deflection. The question is, did it break one of them?

Did you want to convert the value 6,8uF by a parallel connection or series connection of the two capacitors?

In the case of series connection, you should not have connected the two capacitors to minus.

“On the one hand, electrolytic capacitors have a high capacitance. On the other hand, they are polished and separate for AC applications.”

Is it possible that there is alternating current in your circuit?

Bipolar capacitors have no polarity. Therefore also the name bipolar. In contrast, Elko’s “Plus” and “Minus” have connections.
