Are very short-term hotel bookings no problem?

In the absolute off-season, it's almost always easy to find accommodation, such as a hotel room, on (round) trips. So, why book months, weeks, or days in advance, completely unnecessarily, and thus become inflexible? Will a booking still work if you make it through a portal like booking.com just a few minutes (or at most a few hours) before check-in? Wouldn't the booked accommodation then claim that the credit from the portal hasn't been received or that the booking isn't yet visible in the system, and you end up having to pay twice, which is annoying?

Yes, it works. I almost always take my room because I’m going around and not sticking. I book for example with booking.com on the street in front of the hotel. So stupid, to go in and ask, I’m not anymore, because then the receptionist sees the motorcycle helmet, runs to the boss, both talk to each other, and you get to hear: I’m so sad, but unfortunately we’re already booked out, so bad luck as well.

Of course, you need to have your vehicle there, because if there is a fair or exhibition in the city and all the hotels are fully booked, you need to be able to try your luck elsewhere.

With at least 90 minutes of lead time this should work already.

Or you can only book through the portals and then pay at check-in. Then there are no problems.

However, the peak and low season only applies to bathing resorts and winter sports resorts. Sost, especially in cities, it becomes unpredictable. If you have bad luck, then what you call “absolute low season” is a concert, congress, fair, sports event, because of which almost all hotels are booked out and the remaining hotels are very expensive.

So I do the IMMER like that. I’ve never had any problems. However, I always book dirket at the hotel.

As a rule, you get it directly at the hotel for the price. And it’s safe to pay with that too. Friends make this more often in the long term, problems that I never know. And what is safer than paying on site?
