Laptop's SD card reader broken, now need an adapter?
Good day,
My grandpa's SD card reader on his laptop seems to be broken. He likes to use the SD card to look at photos on his laptop, but unfortunately it doesn't recognize the SD card. I assume it's broken?
I've been looking for alternative options and found a USB SD card reader adapter. Will it work as usual with that? Does anyone know anything about this?
Kind regards
Yeah, they just work.
As with the built-in reader, a drive letter appears (at Windows). You can also put several cards in there, then just appear several drives.
Card readers are available individually as in your image or as a combination with other functions.
You can ask the grandpa what else he wants and then choose a suitable device.
With laptops is interesting because you then only have a cable to tap on the then mouse, keyboard, external monitor etc. hang on, so you can take the laptop a lot faster and easier and put it in. So a “Docking Station”

If the grandpa wants to use the card reader on the go, it would be interesting here:

This has no cable, so there’s nothing to hang down when you wear the laptop or lie on the lap and at the same time you have more USB ports to plug in other things.
USB SD card reader adapters are fully practical and inexpensive when the built-in SD card reader is broken on the laptop. Pay attention to supported card formats, USB standard and read speed.
Should work
Yeah, that’ll go.
But maybe put a euro on it and don’t take the cheapest NoName part.
