Probably the radio can only read cards up to 4 GB (or similar).

Look at the instructions.

Especially with 4 GB cards there are 2 variants, not every device can read both

Your car radio probably can’t read such big cards. Try 8GB that should actually work. Otherwise look in the manual, that is guaranteed. The card format should be FAT32. You can easily set it up with a computer. Instructions with images on Google.

The SD card must be formatted as FAT32, is that the case?

It is, of course, difficult to judge from the distance. My guess: The SD card was formatted into an incompatible file format. Today a classic: The data memory was formatted in NTFS, but the target device only understands FAT32.

Restore the file format in the Formatting menu and try again.

Too little info.

  • What is it for an SD card and what SD cards can the “reader”? SD, SDHC or SDXC?
  • What file systems with up to which max. Partition sizes can be the “reader”?
  • “Falsch” partitioned?

Card too large (capacity) or incorrectly formatted.

What format does the SD card have? See what format you need for your car and reformat the card if necessary.
