Switzerland or stay in Germany?

If you had the choice, would you move to Switzerland after studying engineering or stay in Germany?

By Switzerland I mean Basel to Stein and the surrounding area, and staying in Germany would be the area between Osnabrück and Bremen.

I currently have offers from BP and Hoffmann La Roche, which are my top choices.

In Switzerland, I would have a starting salary of 92,000 francs plus a 10 percent bonus, and the employer would contribute 50% to the second pillar.

At BP, I'd have a starting salary of 72k plus 100% Christmas bonus and 50% vacation pay. And other small perks.

I currently live in the area of Germany that I mentioned.

I had previously completed an internship at Roche and found the company to be incredibly good. BP is also recognized as a top employer in the area.

Second question: Do you think that if I gain experience in the chemical industry, I can also enter the pharmaceutical industry afterward, or the same thing the other way around? After all, these two industries are very closely related.

On top of that, of course, the taxes in Germany are really brutal, which puts me off a bit. Switzerland would be a permanent move from my former hometown. What do you think?

As a Swiss woman, I know my country and Hoffmann La Roche. I can tell you that this can go well for a while, until you get in front of an empty desk to quit. There is a thin air in the top floors.

Whoever comes to Switzerland as a foreigner says that it is difficult to find a connection and immerse it in culture.

I think you have nowhere as good as in Switzerland, but the country doesn’t seem to be everyone.

The relatively unbureaucratic approach to offices is good. If you want to leave sometime, you will not put stones in your way and unwind everything smoothly. Mama Helvetia keeps her arms open – welcomes her children when they come and let them go lovingly again when they get whispered.

Servus,

What I feel as hard about Switzerland is that many Swiss Germans in Switzerland do not like it when working.

It would best be to live in the three-legged corner on Lake Constance.

You live in France, go shopping in Germany and work in Switzerland.

A possibility is of course also to live in Germany and work in Switzerland, as you still make more money than in Germany
