Putting together a cupboard always goes wrong?
I have two separate wardrobes here, both exactly the same.
I assembled both cabinets 100% according to the instructions…
The cabinets are assembled lying down, but when erected, the 2.20m high side walls warp due to the weight.
Cabinet number 1 warped when we tried to stand it upright, cabinet number 2 warped when we tried to push it to the place where it was supposed to stand.
Both cabinets are now completely useless and because the back wall is no longer in position due to the crooked side, the whole thing is now unstable.
Is there anything that can be salvaged? If I take the cabinet apart again now, it will be even more damaged. Is there any way I can straighten the side panels? Does anyone have any other ideas/input?
I would buy the body (2x 100€ without drawers etc.) new if necessary, but since I didn't do anything wrong, the problem will probably occur again and again 🙈
I build my closets myself and have a little experience.
It is the back wall that gives stability to a cabinet.
In fact, these prefabricated cabinets are not quite easy to build. The problem is the divided back wall.
From my point of view, a guide rail is missing between the two rear wall parts which connects these parts to one another.
As an alternative, you could connect the rear walls to the side walls with a tack.
If everything does not work, make sure you have a back wall in one piece in the building market and put it on the cabinet. This gives the cabinet the best possible stability. That’s how I do it with my closets.
That’s what I thought. However, I need a completely new and larger back wall. Because the back wall supplied is somewhat too small, since it is only threaded into the groove of the side walls and this groove is only 2mm, so it does not cover the entire back when you want to stack it…
Do you have an idea to the sloping wall (the “butt” you see in the photo right)? Or do you think he’s just pulling the back wall?
You mean the right side wall:
No problem: If you buy a back wall and stack the side is straight again and the cabinet is 50 years straight.
Oh, sorry, must have read me with the 100%, I had somehow 100 euros in my head.
However, does not change the fact that the sides look spinning and the construction does not seem convincing.
You need the back wall all approx. 10-20 cm on the cabinet. This results in only the stiffness. On your photo you can see a huge gap on the right in the closet. This shows that you probably nailed them only in the corners.
Would buy angle
(similar or larger)
place the cabinet from behind in the deck.
Then the “right corner” is stable and you can set it up.
No one’s looking at it from the back and you don’t have to throw the closet away.
Yes, that would have been a good option before, thank you very much, unfortunately the back wall is already bent (you see the “Bauch” in the photo) 😢
First disassemble the rear wall again.
If cabinet then lies on the front, with right angle (tool) the cabinet so “bending” that the 4 corners are also really 90 degrees.
Then gently insert back wall and fix it with small nails.
So not cut 100 pieces in there, but a nail every 20 cm.
Cabinet is still “backward upward”.
Now stop the above-mentioned angle and mark (hole). Ensure that the holes will also sit where HOLZ is (and no air)…
So best measure before and buy DANN matching angle.
Then with small drill (approx. 3 mm) drill the drawn holes for the angles. In about as deep as the screws used are long minus 1 cm.
Then turn the screws carefully with hand (so not battery screwdriver + bit).
Always make sure that cabinet is not slipped and the corners still have 90 degrees!
When all 4 angles “seat”, set up cabinet.
Set up a cabinet over the width side.
The rear wall must be fixed beforehand with the supplied clamps (moved or screwed at equal distances).
This is the price when you use the lowest price drawer and buy chipboard boxes at the discounter. These are more such kits for even improving.
How do you get the info “lowest price segment” and “discounter”???
I paid 800€ in a prestigious furniture store and was able to review the closet there very carefully, he looked very high.
Your answer may have been well-intentioned, but it doesn’t help me any more in this situation.
800,- ? it is delivered and created at fair houses!
A 800€ cabinet is not delivered and built up for 800€, but it would not be 800€ cabinet – for this you have to pay any additional charges.
Buy some sniffs, not the Ikea scrap.
Write clever answers, both cabinets together with drawers, shelf, lamps etc. almost 1000€ from a good furniture store. Your answer doesn’t help anymore and goes by the topic. Thanks for nothing.
Okay.
IKEA is scrap only in ignorant writers?
Not really,
They made more moves to the children!
Man and woman should just cleanly screw in and out!
Build everything, align and screw the back wall properly. It’s all stable.
It is not possible to screw the rear wall because it is not overlapping with the rear side. The back wall is thin as paper and is introduced only into a 2mm deep groove.
In addition, the right wall (as you can see on the photo) is bent and you don’t get it. But many love thanks for your answer, could have worked…
Do you have a picture of the back? If the back wall cannot be screwed to the body, there’s something wrong.
See if you can still make a picture of back wall, side and clamps. Then I’d like to help you.
Oh, sorry had a mistake and misunderstood you. Yes, there are clamps that come into this groove where the back wall is to be stuck. Since the groove is only 1-2mm deep, the back wall always slips out. Probably that’s why it’s always gone wrong when it’s up.
I could buy a minimally larger back wall in the construction market and then nail it instead of in the groove 🤔
But then, unfortunately, this still does not solve the problem with the sloping side wall, which now has a “bulk” and is totally distorted
