Faster DSL, better video streaming?
Is this a misconception?
My dad is complaining that YouTube videos are so slow for him. He usually sets the quality to 720. I gave him that tip once… he currently has a 16,000 connection.
The fact that the videos are lagging could also be due to his graphics card, right?
16,000 is easy for 1080p as long as there is no other streaming or downloading on the same network.
On the graphics card, it can hardly lie, to the video or Watching streams is already very low hardware.
If it is connected by WLan, it could be connected to the router, it is enough if a wall is in between to disturb the connection in a location. Simply connect the device to the router directly with a Lan cable (if available) or put it directly next to the router and test whether it works so smoothly if not too much software that runs in the background can load the processor or the RAM in case of poor hardware. In this case, if Windows is used, I would just throw out everything you don’t need. To do this, go to the task manager (right click on the timeline below right -> task manager), then deactivate everything unnecessary in Autostart.
The graphics card can also be the main processor. If he has an old device, it may be. Usually it should run normally with ner 16 k line. Nevertheless, it may happen that the provider provides less performance than it is contractually secured. Definitely make a speed test. If too little performance, then contact provider and poke to his right.
Here are some speed tests to choose from:

Hi @,
I also believe that watching YouTube videos should work with a 16 MBit/s line.
As @ has already pointed out correctly, one has to try to limit the error and the tip with the LAN connection is a correct first aid measure, especially when it comes to connection interruptions. If it flows via LAN without problems, then something seems to impair the WLAN signal.
Of course, you can also see by means of speed test whether the line delivers enough. But also here it is important to carry out the test via LAN.
Best regards
Rebekka H.
Yes, the servers will not be faster
