Hello,
Does anyone know how much a headlight replacement would cost on a Golf Mk3? The adjustment screw on mine is broken (on the left), and the headlight would need to be replaced. How much would something like that cost approximately at a garage?

at Golf III you can renew both headlight units in 10 minutes (with new clips and screws) plus 5 minutes for setting/yodays. Sometimes the cable sets are apron or the sheet metal carrier is crooked. Sometimes the plastic straps break from the grill mask,make the M6 fastening screws in the thread of the front mask
Golf III headlight units are still available with real glass disc and can be disassembled/overholstered
Golf III should have LWR with servomotor in Europe, whose conversion takes only a few seconds but for installation it is necessary to open the headlight back cover and to prevent the push rod socket with a pointed tong. This is complete for VW mechtroniker to “complex” the installed headlights with servomotor. There are also different types of servomotors

At VAG, the headlights come “pre-adjusted” that hoist as long as no one has cuddled around the car, the headlight basic adjustment is correct after the installation of new parts (as with the new car assembly).
So if it’s normal you should get out with 2 AW plus 1 AW distribution time. 1 AW should be sufficient for an inspection as a composite work.
At present, the AW costs (incl MWSt) are between 4€ (Freie Landwerkstatt/ehmals VAG) and 15€ (VW branches in the city centre)
Years ago, a useful part of the free accessories cost 70 or 80 €. You probably get that cheaper on eBay too.
Remember that the golf 3 had two different types of headlights, so look at the stray grass at the front as it looks. One version belongs to the higher-quality or sporting variants, the other one being the easier. I got out of my mind at the time when shopping… 😉
