Do professional teeth cleanings do more harm than good?

My mother told me that professional cleanings damage tooth enamel, leaving teeth temporarily cleaner but also more susceptible to inflammation and cavities, and that professional cleanings cause more damage than they prevent. Is that true?!

No. If a professional dental cleaning is made about 2 x a year and this professional, In other words, the benefit should clearly outweigh any adverse effects.

No. The danger for periodontosis decreases and after cleaning the teeth are sealed to prevent caries attack.

What expertise does your mother have?

and that professional cleaning cause more damage than they prevent. Is that right?!

Wherever your mother has this bullshit – no, that’s definitely not true. Only drawback: The PZR must be paid from its own pocket at least partly – comes to the KK.

Hardly accessible areas, e.g. between the teeth, we usually neglect during care. In these places, the covering is not removed. This also happens when you use tooth silk or even interdental brushes. Thus, the interspaces are difficult to get clean.

In a PZR, the first is to remove the linings on the tooth surfaces, tooth spaces and in the gum pockets with special hand instruments and ultrasound devices.

Discoloration by tea, coffee, wine or nicotine and other colouring foods are eliminated using a powder jet device, Air Flow. With a mixture of air, water and a cleaning powder (the taste you can usually choose) all the coatings are removed in the smallest niches. New coatings can become more difficult on smooth tooth surfaces, so the teeth are then polished smoothly with a fluoride-containing paste. The professional dental cleaning (PZR) ends with the sealing of the teeth with a fluoride lacquer protecting and strengthening the dental enamel.

Furthermore, what I think is important should be explained about the necessary and correct dental care at home. (if not done, ask for this).

A good and thorough PZR worth its money takes at least 45 minutes.

I think that’s a bad thing.

Professionally carried out (and I would expect this in a dental practice) should be nix harmful. I’ll do something myself. 3 times a year a PZR (due to paralysis, I am not so fit) and my caries situation has improved significantly since then.

On the contrary, it is a good prophylaxis. Not for free all dental additional insurances pay for dental cleaning. They would hardly do that if this would lead to tooth decay and consequently to expensive treatments.

If you could hurt, no one would let that go, on the contrary, it’s good for the teeth there to remove things you don’t get away with the toothbrush.
