Saddle search, what tactics?

If you need/want a new saddle, what's the best way to go about it? I've just started looking and am simply overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices.

A completely new custom saddle is out of the question. I don't want to afford something like that.

A new "off-the-shelf" model would be conceivable, but only in the mid-price range up to around €2,000. But would you first look for a brand you've heard positive things about?

A used one is obviously the cheapest option. From a private seller or a dealer? Unfortunately, we only have one nearby seller who comes to us with a car full of used saddles for us to try out. But not a single employee at this company is a trained saddler. I don't find that very professional.

My current saddle was from Willhaben and was purchased for my RB. It just so happened to fit my horse after a few minor adjustments. But I'll need something "new" soon.

There are also various templates and grids available for measuring your horse. What have you used?

There is no question that the saddler has to come to make adjustments anyway.

I’m going straight to my satellite. Since I don’t give a brand, he can bring different models.

I bought the current Kentaur with him, was not so expensive with about 1600 €

Call Sattler, make appointment, what have to be recommended or the one has also on used saddles.

Definitely not kindly measure anything yourself (except maximum support surface), and simply buy what the satellite should then adjust again where the not even comes from it/herself.

There are very good used saddles, buy only used ones that are both of Kieffer. My sattler sells good used saddles, which looks exactly at the seat and is the right one, is naturally adjusted.

You can also get used saddles from specialist dealers.

I don’t understand the problem. What suits your horse says your sattler. And he’ll do whatever you can do.

Sattler called what I’m looking for or a representative of a brand I had so far come when I have special wishes of the brand.

I’ll call my satellite, call my wishes and ask when he can come by.
