The document number refers to the number of your travel document, which is the identity card, identity card, card d’ indentification etc. within the EU or EEA, and outside this room with a passport. In the case of Ryanair in the AGBs, it is stated that “every passenger on board an Ryanair flight must be able to present a valid travel document. This is also true for toddlers.” and “The data of travel documents of all passengers (including those of children and toddlers) must be given in the online check-in”.

Is that bad if you enter the document number when booking online instead of the ID number?

You can use them, but better is the top right, in the corner.
