Roco Lok A Dampflok A Drei Asse Br 80 037 auf digital umrüsten?

Is that the starting pack 51160?

The locomotive has an interface, you can install a decoder relatively easily, but the rest of the pack is analogous.

Buy a digital starter pack from Roco with Overholgleis, then you can use the tracks you already have to enlarge and create a decoder in your BR 80. Then you have digital 2 locomotives and a long overhaul/setting track, for the beginning “digital” then also makes sense & fun.

Sry, I only know Z21 as a signal/soft control, I don’t know about it;/… but no matter what, the principle is the same! You just need to insert a compatible decoder into your interface, program and complete the locomotive. Have fun;)

Screw it up and see if it looks the same inside:

Digitization is (almost) always possible, but in the case of models without interface one has to solder and often make further modifications.

Without the light conversion, the effort is limited.

By the way, Roco’s car can be bought, which are almost always good. The universal coupling of Roco is also good.

Oh, man, Roco’s such a fucking mess. The many versions of the same model are no longer visible.

Most likely the engine is not directly connected to mass,
but connected with 2 cables. Everything else makes absolutely no
Sinn, because a version with interface is also offered, which needs a motor without a direct ground connection. Cable from the engine, decoder brazed in between (possibly with retrofit interface), more should not be necessary.

Honestly, make a bow to this company.

If you want to drive digitally, get Trix C tracks. This is the two-wire version of the Märklin C track. Absolutely solid and durable, visually appealing and with a sensible geometry. If you want to drive analogy, the thing looks more difficult because today no one builds “thinking” switches that automatically direct the current only where the switch is switched. Used Fleischmanngleise would be an option, but the supply of spare parts such as rail connectors has also been running over Roco and no one knows how long.

The digital system of Trix/Märklin is also quite useful and not very expensive.

Rolling material can be purchased virtually anywhere. It is only sensible that the models have a clutch mount according to NEM 362 in order to (almost) mount any clutch. If you want reliable locomotives with properly constructed wheel contacts, it is also recommended to buy something other than Roco. Current Trix, Piko, old meatman, etc.
