Returns VAT?

If I sell an item for €100, for example, that is subject to standard sales tax, I have to pay 19% sales tax. However, if I return the item and get the sales price deducted, do I still have to pay sales tax on this sale?

No, if the delivery is cancelled, the basis of assessment for the sales tax must be changed (to 0) (§17 para. 2 No. 3 UStG).
This is then to be reported in the period in which the change, i.e. the return is carried out, is to be reported in the sales tax pre-registration. you do not have to make a correct application for the old period into the original delivery / the fee has been collected (when taxed).

No, if you sell the article, you will make an invoice with the sales tax.
If it is retoured, you will create a credit with the same amounts that raise the invoice amounts.

If the purchase price is cancelled, the sales tax will also be cancelled.
