Return bag because of bad smell?
About a week and a half ago I bought a bag in a store (Tk Maxx). One day after purchase the bag started to smell unpleasant (slightly reminiscent of urine). The bag is not real leather, but I suspect that the smell is due to that. The smell is particularly strong on the inside of the bag, which is lined with fabric. However, it seems that the inside of the "leather" is the cause of the smell and not the fabric itself. I have already tried unsuccessfully to remove the smell with baking soda and airing it out. Since I bought it less than 28 days ago, I would now like to return the bag. I have both the receipt and the label. But now I am wondering whether the smell is considered a defect in the product or not, since artificial leather often has an smell. Nevertheless, the smell bothers me a lot and is simply unbearable. Am I entitled to an exchange or a refund? Personally, I would prefer a refund, as an exchange of the bag for the same model is not possible due to the unique nature of the item.
Thank you in advance for your answers!
You won’t have any chances because a bag doesn’t spontaneously start stinking. It’s just not credible that she just started smelling out of nothing.
You can ask nicely, of course, but don’t think the shop will be cunning – they have to throw that thing away.
Will certainly not be done except those who can explain it
But otherwise it might be very difficult…
