Restore permanently deleted OneDrive?

Hey people,

Unfortunately, I did something stupid. I accidentally permanently deleted my stuff from OneDrive, which was also on my desktop. So, they were linked to OneDrive. There's nothing in the Recycle Bin anymore because, as I said, the files were permanently deleted. Now, thanks to a software program, I've been able to restore the data, but these files are an .lnk file that was previously a Word or PDF. Is there any way to convert or open these files in Word or PDF again?

Thanks in advance

I’m sorry to hear you lost your files. If you’ve only recovered .lnk files, it means that the original files are no longer present, as links only refer to the location of the files. Unfortunately, you cannot convert .lnk files directly into Word or PDF because they do not contain any content.

You could try to reuse the recovery tool to search for the original Word or PDF files, as sometimes additional files are found. It would also make sense to look for a backup if you have one, for example, on Windows backup or other backup software.

If that doesn’t help, you could consider specialized data recovery software that might recover the actual files. Good luck!

Before you go this way, were you online on Onedrive and have made an older version of OneDrive?

This allows you to reverse all changes in the last 30 days.

You can’t really open a file. This is a file format with most links to be saved. Say it just doesn’t refer to a file anymore.
