Resolution = crucial for input lag & response time?
I would like to know if the resolution affects the input lag and response time of a monitor?🤔
Let's say I play the same game twice on my 1440p monitor, once at 1080p and once at 1440p. I get the same frame rate both times. Does this change anything, or do both times stay the same?
The resolution of a monitor can affect input lag and response time, but the effect is usually negligible and depends on many other factors.
Input lag refers to the time that elapses between input (e.g., mouse click) and the response on the screen. Response time, on the other hand, refers to the time it takes a pixel to change from one color to another.
In most cases, resolution alone won't have a significant impact on input lag or response time. The main factor influencing these parameters is the monitor's technology, and specifically the panel's response time.
Modern monitors typically have response times that are fast enough to ensure low input lag and a fast response time, regardless of the resolution. Manufacturers typically optimize their monitors to provide the lowest possible lag and fast response times, regardless of the selected resolution.
In your scenario, where you're playing the same game at both 1080p and 1440p and achieving the same frame rate both times, input lag and response time should generally be similar. The difference in resolution alone shouldn't make a noticeable difference in these factors.
However, it's important to note that your system's performance, including the graphics card and other components, can affect the actual frame rate and, therefore, input lag. In some cases, certain games may be slightly more demanding at higher resolutions and may slightly impact the frame rate.
In conclusion, resolution alone doesn't usually have a direct impact on a monitor's input lag and response time. These factors depend more on the monitor's technology, the panel's response time, and the overall system performance.

Nicht signifikant. Viel wichtiger und auch entscheidend, sind hier die Frametimes. Da du in höheren Auflösungen auch weniger FPS hast, steigen die Framtimes und erzeugen somit ein immer zunehmend spürbares Input-Lag.
