Repeating units recognize polymers?

A wonderful good morning dear ones and a happy first Advent.

I have a question: How can I determine the repeating units (n) in a polymer? I can't figure it out, or rather, I don't know if I'm doing it correctly. For example, polyesters are made from dicarboxylic acids and diols. How do I determine the repeating units?

Moin,

Well, you look at the chain and see where there are repeating units. Since you know that this is a dicarboxylic acid and a dialcohol (actually a trialcohol), this must have one monomer ZWEI Catboxy groups, while the other monomer ZWEI (actually DREI) must have hydroxyl groups:

You also count the carbon atoms of each monomer. In the dicarboxylic acid, there are six carbon atoms, in the case of alcohol only three…

All right?

Well, macromolecules (chains) with repeating units are formed from the monomers. That’s what I’d say.
