Riding helmets for oval heads?

Hey,

I need a new riding helmet because my old one no longer fits. I've had all my helmets from Uvex so far—bike, ski, and riding.

That's why we tried some on today, but unfortunately they didn't fit. I would have liked to get the Uvex exenttial 3 with the MIP system, but it didn't fit. Other models didn't fit either (including a few other brands).

They were all too tight in the front and back, and too wide on the sides. Do you know of any brands/companies that make helmets with this shape?

Uvex builds for round head, where the “front and back too narrow” actually indicates. Kask also builds for round heads. For bicycle helmets, I also know Bontrager for round head, and no third manufacturer for riding helmets.

That Uvex has been watching you so far, irritates me. I have a round head and so far I always buy Uvex, and I went to Bontrager at the race bike, because the Uvex MIPS racing bike helmet was a little unpaid.

All others build for oval heads, so you have the most rich selection, as oval heads and therefore also oval helmets are much more common. No matter if Casco, Abus, USG, Equestro, Covalliero, you can buy pretty much everything. Only Felix Bühler is based on Uvex, so again round.

It only helps put everything on your head until you find the right one. Because besides the rough shape, every head is a bit different.

-I have the same problem as you and then I stayed on the cheap covalliero without great choices.

I’d rather have had an off-road helmet with kinn protection.

Casco has been good for me.

Then I guess you have to keep looking. Loesdau and Krämer have stores with a good selection.

It is worth a trip to a larger branch of a riding sports shop where you can simply try across the street.
