that would have to know what kind of pollution and pollution are in the lake.

is fertilizer and nitrate introduced by farms or concerns? is the lake older and has a thick mud layer on the ground?

Shells can actually provide a clear water, but do not help if there is a basic problem.

when you become the shells in the mud, they sink and are dead.

if it is a small landscaped water like a fire-extinguishing or fishing pond, you can drain and excavate the water

Depends on what bothers you about the water…

Shells are filterers, the “comb” organic suspended substances, plankton etc. from the water = yes to the related help to clean.

When it comes to mud layers, turbid inflow, etc., you will have to drain the pond more, dry out the floor and clean out…

ABER IMPORTANT: consider species and nature conservation as well as fishing regulations!

You need to reduce (let) and/or set/safe buffer strips at the source.
