Is an i5 6500 enough for a server?

I want to host a home server and possibly a Minecraft server. I have an Optiplex with a Pentium G4400 and an i5 6500 lying around. Can I install the 6500 in the Optiplex 5040 SFF, or does it need a BIOS update first? Is that even sufficient for a CasaOS server and possibly a Fabric Minecraft server?

Can I mount the 6500 into the Optiplex 5040 SFF,

Should work without problems.

Is it enough for a CasaOS server

Wouldn’t be my first choice for a server now, but you can also make the experience yourself. For a small home server, the pentium would also be enough.

and possibly also a Fabric Minecraft server?

Depends on what the “Homeserver” should do and how many players depend on your Minecraft server.

the i5 6500 has 3,2Ghz and 4 cores and since MC takes a core for the respective worlds(Overworld, Nether, End) there should be enough space for the OS
