Refresh screen Yes/No?

Goodbye,

I have a question. I recently bought a new gaming PC (CPU: Ryzen 5 7500/ GPU: RTX 4070ti).

I currently have a screen from AOC (24.5" and 165Hz) and a 4K screen from Samsung (28" and 60hz).

My question is, is it worth replacing the 4K screen for a WQHD screen or can I play story games in which I don't pay much attention to FPS on my 4K screen at the highest settings in WQHD without any problems?

The difference between WQHD and 4k is not so huge now, the 4070ti should create most games on WQHD and 4k.

Why not? Isn't something sensitive?

Well, I don't know.

 (3840 * 2160) / (2560 * 1440) = 2,25 (2560 * 1440) / (1920 * 1080) ~ 1,78

The GPUI has to calculate more than twice as many frames compared to QHD at 4k. This is even more extreme than the difference between QHD and FHD where it is "only" about 78% more. The difference is about 1/4 more present.

If he turns upscaling on it, it should go, but to say that the difference isn't that huge is already dared.

The 4070ti is considered a High End QHD card. You can play 4k with this, but if necessary Take smears, especially if you want to play natively.

Thanks for the clarification, but I still think that the 4k monitor is a good choice. However, the 4070ti has been deliberately circumcised to make no competition to the homeowner 4080. Otherwise, people would not be willing to put the double on the table.

Then just try it out, after that you can still decide 🙂

Hmm, that's not true. The 4070 ti super costs around €850 upwards. The 4080 super about 200€ (~25%) more.

In total, the 4080 super delivers about 15-20% more FPS to 4k. Whether this is worth the extra charge is the purse of each individual. But anyway, it's a model that's not worth it.

If you are ready to spend so much money for a GPU and want to play in 4k, you can also grab the 4090 directly.

The whole price policy does not make much sense in Nvidia with the 40s series. Take the 4060. It may bring 1-2% more FPS compared to the 3060. The only advantage is Frame Gen. Release Price identical if you have 8GB. 16GB costs 100€ more.

The 4070 super, on the other hand, costs €100 less in release than the 3080 and brings 10-15% more performance than that.

Let's hope that they take more account of their customers in the 50s, and that 5060 brings a significant increase in performance over the 4060/3060. Realistic expectation should be that it delivers at least the same FPS as the next higher card of the last generation.

So the 5060 should be super somewhere in the area of a 4070 / 4070.
