Reduction for sick pay?

Hey friends,

I have a problem and just want to know if I can find a solution. I have been receiving sick pay for over a year and because of my illness I also have to go to rehab. I have to pay dog tax. Unfortunately I have very little to live on and receive no support other than sick pay. I only have around €100 left to live on for a whole month. I applied for a reduction but it was rejected because I receive sick pay and not citizen's allowance. Apparently there is no such thing in the law. Unfortunately I am now stuck with almost €300 in dog tax, which I pay every month with a very small amount that I can count on hand. Someone told me if you have little to live on you can get a reduction of between 30 and 50%. My dog tax costs €100 a year.

Thank you

The dog tax is a municipal tax. That means there is no nationwide uniform rules. Each municipality shall set its own rules for this tax in its statutes. If you want to know how the exact rules are with your community, you need to see in their local statutes whether there is such a possibility.

I confess. So in the statutes there are no benefits. Is that really so?

If it’s in the statutes, then yes. There is no legal basis other than the statutes for the dog tax.

There is also an animal board, maybe you can save something like this for food etc.
