Open raw images?
Hello,
I just uploaded my first RAW images to my PC (i5, 32GB RAM, RX6700XT). However, when I tried to view the images with the standard Photos app, I only saw a loading icon. Even when I right-click on the .ARW file, my desktop crashes.
What's going on? That can't be it.
Does anyone have any solutions?
At Raw pictures from Sony cameras
Can you use Image Edge
https://imagingedge.sony.net/de-de/ie-desktop.html
Kostet nix and you can also develop the images immediately and make normal JPEGs out
RAW files can only be displayed with plugin on Windows. Check the RAW plugin from the Windows store (Attention to Microsoft as a manufacturer!).
Otherwise, you should open RAW files with the corresponding software. Sony has its own software and freeware would be e.g. Darktable.
I already have the plugin, thank you
Then why the PC crashes, I don’t know. Can be anything possible, driver problems, hardware problems (graphic card, RAM).
Depending on the camera model, there are different RAW formats such as NEF (Nikon) or CR2 (Canon). And there are programs like RAWTherapee.
The meaning of RAW images is not to consider them as they are. RAW is intended as a basis for further processing, e.g. with Adobe Lightroom, and usually this is also necessary because the RAWs as they come from the camera do not look beautiful in most cases.
The usual procedure is to load the RAWs in Lightroom (or another RAW converter), to edit them as desired, and to export the finished images as JPEG.
Accordingly, normal image viewers with RAW can often do nothing or need a plugin first.
If you just want to have finished pictures that you can view directly, you should take pictures in JPEG. Or in JPEG+RAW, then you have a look at the JPEGs directly, and the RAWs if you still want to improve manually.
It should be done.
You should have these two on your computer anyway. Try it.
I recommend loading all pictures in Lightroom to sort them and make your selection. RAW processing in Lightroom and then in Photoshop the correct processing.
Great success and best regards
thanks for the answer, but so much money I don’t want to spend
First of all, 11€ are not much money and On the other hand, I also called you free tools as an alternative. With which you can show the pictures.
The reason why I have called paid programs is that they are optimal for editing RAW images.
You can also use a free program for editing. They are not so extensive and there are fewer tutorials on YouTube.
Hope I could help you well.
Use an RAW converter…
