Quit smoking at 17?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently 17 and started actively smoking during the Easter holidays this year because my friends were smoking. I smoked at parties when I was 15 or 16, but I was definitely not addicted. Now I'm completely addicted.

I kept saying I'd just quit after the holidays, but I didn't follow through and even bought my own tobacco. The first two were 2 Lucky Strike browns, then 3 American Spirits, and finally 3 packs of Pueblo browns. I also smoked at friends' houses.

I decided to quit the day before yesterday because I thought that I'm 17, haven't been smoking for that long, and that giving up will seem difficult, but not as difficult as if I quit in 10-20 years.

I didn't smoke yesterday or today. Before, I always had cravings 2-4 times a day. Yesterday was the worst day; I saw people smoking around me the whole time, my mom, my friends. I had these cravings the whole time, but today they're much better. I'm on vacation and had the craving 2-3 times, and it's worse in the evening. I'm still nervous, which even my mom noticed.

Do you think it will go away again? I heard the relapse rate is 97 percent. Am I now branded for life? Does the risk of cancer and stroke only halve after 10 years? I just haven't smoked for even half a year.

I think I'll manage, even if it'll be difficult. But I won't start again, not even at parties, because I never want to go through a day like yesterday again.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long text, just had to get it out.

It’ll be better. These are withdrawal symptoms.

Hold on, it’s worth it.

Yes, this desire reappears. You just have to stand. But I think of the short period in which you smoked, the body will recover quickly.
