Was könnte ich machen? Danke für eure Hilfe
What’s the ground in your cage? As far as I’ve sent you, you have scatter inside and there’s a house on it. From this house, however, they make the scatter out and then probably lie on plastic, where they urinate, correct?
The floor is made of plastic and on it I stray but they make it away again and again. Yeah, that’s exactly where they are.
All right. You could try to stretch the floor with Fleece and then give the scatter. So if they prefer not to have the scatter in their sleeping house, they are not at least on plastic. Fleece also sucks better than plastic 😀
Since you said that your rats smell like urine, it could also be that they mark each other. Usually rats are extremely clean and, in my opinion, rarely smell something. You can’t bathe her!

You get Fleece everywhere. Woolworth, Kik, 1€ shop. Of course, you can also take the one from an animal business. It’s best to cut 2 pieces and change the fleece every week.
Rats mark each other (or their people) to signal that they belong to a pack 🙂

Okay, thanks for your help, I’ll try it out. Where do I get the fleece at the dressing cup?
Yes I also heard that the rats cleaned a lot and they smell neutral. Can that be real they’re marking each other?

Hi!
First of all, I wanted to say that normal littering is completely unsuitable for rats, as this is too much dust. This can lead to respiratory diseases and premature death of the animal.
Use Savebed, Chipsi corn granules, Hugro hempsteu or other hemp litters. You can also use newspaper paper or paper towels. Linen and beech wood granules are also good.
Second, I wanted to ask what cage you got. With plastic floor I always have such horror pictures of mini cages. A cage for 3 rats should be at least 100x50x100 cm and have at least 3 full days (at least 0.5 sqm).
But now on the question:
It may be good that they do not want to have the scatter under their fur/foten. Our rats are mostly on fleece, cardboard, paper and toilet paper strips.
But it can also be that they want to have the tax as far as possible away from here, because of the dust.
Also a possibility is that they become too warm with the scatter, but what I think less.
Why they smell like urine can also have several reasons:
They mark each other. Many rats mark each other to show that they belong to a pack. They also do this to better recognize themselves.
Check if you change the scatter, whether the scatter is wet or the floor. Then it can be good.
Normally rats don’t really smell. Maybe the cage, but if you clean the cage daily, it shouldn’t be.
I hope I could help you.

Thanks for your detailed answer helps me very much I will definitely try it. The cage is big enough they have plenty of space.
