Ratte greift dauernd andere an, was soll ich tun?
Meine beiden Ratten Smoky und Djude sind Brüder und ca 1 1/2 Jahre halt. Djude ist seit ein paar tagen aus dem Käfig raus, weil er ein Medikament bekommt vom TA. er hat Blut/Sekret am Auge, dass durch stress mit Smoky kommt. Djude bewegt sich kaum, trinkt/isst schlecht. Deswegen das Medikament. Smoky greift ihn seit kurzem jedesmal an und Djude quiekt auf und wehrt sich nicht. Ich wollte Smoky eben etwas ausm Käfig holen und er hat wieder direkt Djude angegriffen. Was soll ich tun?
Beide sind nicht Kastriert, Leben schon immer zusammen.
Ich weiß, dass man erst ab 3 Ratten eine “bessere” Haltung hat. Jedoch erlaubt mir meine Mutter keine weitere Ratten mehr.

Unfortunately, this is always the case for the couple. This is quasi “normal” and happens at some point in the case of many rat couples… that’s why it’s not good, according to animal welfare law, to keep rats to 2. The absolute minimum is 3 rats, but even that is too little. Only from 4 rats can they live their social behavior properly. In nature the rats live in large ruins with 100s rats
Keep the rat healthy and reintegrate, maybe it works. They shouldn’t see each other in time! But if you want to act in the interests of the animals, it is better to deliver them.

For the first time, your one rat should remain in quarantine until it is completely sprinkled again, otherwise it is clear that it will be nothing. Then maybe re-integrate (see best on the Internet some tips about it)… certain things also play a role like the cage, shouldn’t be art-friendly (space shortage) stressing your rat and it develops aggressions. And above all, the run-out is incredibly important for rats, so it must not be missing and if it is only recently, then there must be a trigger for it. The best way to ask your mother again after another rat is to explain to her the circumstances, if that’s not gonna happen I’d advise you to give the animals. I know that’s hard, but as they are, it’s not a good condition.
