Rat bites me?
Hello, I've had four rats for a month now, and three of them are tame, meaning I can lift them out of their cage, pet them, and they sometimes even come onto my arm on their own. But one of them always bites me.
At first, she only nibbled on my finger a little, but now she's really biting. She also squeals whenever you pick her up. I once slowly put my hand into the cage, and she came to my hand and bit it straight away, making it bleed. Today, I wanted to pick up a box she was underneath (because I wanted to clean the cage), and she bit me again straight away… It bled and hurt. The other rats have never bitten me. What can I do to stop her from biting me again?
Best for some time to wear leather gloves and feed this rat by hand with deliciouss. First of all, do not raise and wait until it has become somewhat more tasty and has gained more trust. Then touch with glove and gently but briefly brush and gradually increase until you no longer need the glove. At some point, you can also begin gently touching them on the abdomen and then taking them up. But always just increase a bit and don’t get up at all. Take care of the rat’s behaviour.
Maybe she’s a bit shy or she’s confused with her hand & eating was with my so
Mine does, too, what did you do to make her realize she can’t eat you?
