Raid config remains?

I have 2 HDDs and one SSD in my server.

Currently, Windows is still running there. I've mirrored the two HDDs using Partition Manager.

But now I want to switch to Linux.

Will the RAID configuration remain simple? Or do I need to do something special?

Thanks in advance for all answers!

The RAID software is not available to you.

However, that it is “only” a RAID 1 (mirror), it doesn’t matter in the end.

You can completely delete a HDD in an emergency. The data will remain on the second HDD.

You can then rebuild the new RAID 1 software under Linux.

Would recommend the Proxmox hypervisor as an OS.

Or, of course, you put Unraid or TrueNas on your server.

Do not know me 100% with RAID, but it depends on whether it is a hardware or software RAID.

At a hardware RAID, you need to see that all components work in the new OS and you set everything up as before.

With a software RAID, your OS takes over RAID management, which is why you need to reconfigure it in your new OS.

You use a software RAID.

This is not easy in the new OS. I’d format all hard drives except for one. Because they’re only mirrored. Then you can set up a new RAID software in your linux operating system and mirror it again.

If you had a hardware RAID, the configuration remained as it would be stored on the RAID controller.
