"Average" chainsaw?

I want to buy a chainsaw. I honestly don't know which one to buy. I won't be using it too often and will mainly be using it in the woods for felling and logging.

Someone I know suggested I look for an MS 230.

Which ones do you recommend for this work?

But it should be a chainsaw that doesn't cost too much when old, and I'm happy to buy it used. Since I don't use it too often, I don't want one that costs over €500.

Hello,

I have an MS 210. Wonderfully handy and light. But as the only saw she’d be a bit too weak. Hard wood in the thickness of the length of the sword, it must be sharpened already, and still comes to baptism. But with me, she’s the “small,” and I have another MS 362 C, and if it gets thicker, then you have to get the answer.

The 210 has replaced an old 023 with me after many years. In terms of force, it was a step back, but what really doesn’t bother me, see above. Since the MS 230 or 231 replaces the old MS 023 after the conversion of the naming at Stihl, it should also have a little more anger than my 210. But I wouldn’t do that if you didn’t have a stronger saw in the backhand.

For occasional users there are two strategies for me:

  • Buy either a semiprofessional saw like the MS 230/231
  • Or a used but overhauled professional saw from the dealer. Professionals in wood harvest often drive their saws only one year, and then exchange them for a new one. When she’s overtaken professionally, she keeps occasional users like us for a whole time. In this case, I would go towards MS 241 or MS 261.

Husqvarna’s models are not worse, but I don’t know. I have a Stihl service in the place to which I can go if I can’t get along on my own, and where I bought my saws. The one new, the other needed and overtaken.

My Husquarna 435 is doing good work.

I liked about 100 trees in the forest.

Also with a diameter of 70 cm. Go.

The 435, without II or XP

330 euros.

let it go, buy the wood

can also make small at home with the chain saw.

in the forest need a driver’s license, the protective clothing the wood must get home, best with hangers, 3 years let dry only then in the oven

You only need the “Kettensawsschein” if you don’t see in your own forest for yourself.

All a question of the requirements:

What trees should it be?

What diameter do they have?

How many tons (hard meters) should it be?

Time spent, per tonne/meter?

Land?

Experience in handling the saw?

The proposed precipitation technique?

The available PSA/design and quality?

STIHL MS 362 C-M is a solid simple saw for falling

STIHL MSA 300 C-O was fine for small work based on battery

STIHL MS 462 C-M VW was fine in petrol

Husqvarna Professional Gasoline Engine Saw 562 XP solid “heavy” multipurpose

Efco MT 5200 light multipurpose

Makita battery motor saw UC011GT101 40 V max. XGT system

Makita battery motor saw DUC353Z LXT System 36 Volt/2*18 Volt

There’s no saw!

I prefer battery wherever it is meaningful. Leiser, no exhaust gases, better handling, easier maintenance.
