Question about SSD m2?

From a technical point of view, is it possible to install an SSD m.2 2242 in a slot normally predefined for SSD m.2 2280 without any problems?

The connection would have to be identical and the length would be shorter. Then there would be no screw for fastening. But is a strong fastening really necessary?

No, that’s not a problem. The occupancy of the PINs is exactly identical.

I wouldn’t miss attachment, but the PINs are strong enough to hold the SSD so they don’t fly out. So it also works without fastening screw.

Many m.2 slots have several holes for different lengths and yes, the connection is identical and can be used.

It is advantageous if the length fits.
