Is quartz sand in the home unhealthy?

Hello, I wanted to ask if it's unhealthy to store quartz sand in the apartment. I had a container of quartz sand sitting in the corner for months, mixing it into the plant soil, and I've heard that it can create fine quartz dust, which is dangerous.

The quartz sand you have is nothing more than normal sand – only that it is cleaned by washing. In addition to impurities, the fine dust fractions go away rather than the larger grains. I have never heard that quartz sand (for aquariums, for example, or as accompaniment to the cactus earth) should be harmful and consider this to be excluded.

In stone processing, where this is a problem, there are quite different conditions. Through grinding, polishing, sawing, the finest particles are created that are swirled.

I also bought quartz sand, which is actually for the aquarium and which I gave to my cactus soil, so I’m not worried. There is still a supply of quartz sand.

So I think it’s completely harmless. Far less dangerous than when a child plays in the sand, because there are more small particles than in the washed-out sand. And they’re swirled, while in the apartment everything’s quiet.

Only in the construction industry is the load relevant and also there predominantly in the stone processing industry.
